Good afternoon Lakeside Families,

We had a good start to the school year and the students and staff were amazing!!  We appreciated your patience with some transportation issues.  Unfortunately, we are without 8 bus drivers which causes some bus runs to be delayed as the drivers are making 2nd runs to make sure all students have a ride home.

For car riders, we ask for students to be picked up using the lower lot at the Fine Arts Building to allow our buses to depart as quickly as possible from the cafeteria and front drive.

This week we will start our regular bell schedule, which you can see HERE.  Students will report to their 1st period class on Monday after 7:50 am.  Students who arrive before 7:50 am can go to the cafeteria for breakfast (free for all students), the gym, or the media center.  After 7:50 am, students will go directly to their 1st period class.

Due to the increase in COVID cases involving the Delta variant, I have included the procedures we will follow as directed by DCSD.

In the event a student or family reports a positive COVID case, we will follow these steps:

  • Teachers will be notified and asked for a list of students/staff who are considered close contacts (less than 6 feet apart, more than 15 minutes cumulative).
  • Submit the information to the District
  • Individuals who are close contacts will be notified and provided guidance
  • Community letter will be sent out

Each teacher is asked to provide the following in the event a student is quarantined or in isolation:

  • Provide the student access to assignments (VERGE/Google Classroom)
  • Contact the student during planning time (email/phone call/Teams) to provide support, answer questions, etc and set up a method of communication for the student while they are absent
  • The student is marked present

For updates and the number of COVID cases in DeKalb schools, check the

We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday.

Take care.

Good evening Lakeside Families,

Good afternoon Lakeside families,

You will be receiving information regarding the start of school in the next couple of weeks to make sure everyone is ready for the 2021-2022 school year and the first day of school on August 2nd.  I am so excited and can't wait to see everyone!!

Today, I wanted to share a few opportunities for your student to become involved in our fall extracurricular activities.  Please check the information you will receive in an email following this phone call.

If band, cheerleading, cross country, football, flag football (girls), or softball is not for you, don't worry because we have over 60 clubs and organizations along with Winter and Spring sports for you to become involved.  Students who are engaged in an activity with their school are more likely to graduate on time and excel in their academics.  We want all Vikings to find their place within our school.
